Mmm that sounds amazing! :D Yes I guess would be about 150g carbs then....I always need to split boluses for chinese foods though, if I took it all up front I'd have a hypo then a massive high late on or overnight into the morning! Do you split yours?

i havent split mine as i do sometimes forget if ive had insulin (its one of those things, i often question if i've had it coz its an automatic response to food - when i look i have)
plus i've only been made recently aware that its ok to split insulin doses.

it was amazing - yum yum yum

Has your specialist given the go-ahead for the pump Laura? I ask because it's a condition of being offered one that you have done a proper DAFNE or other carb counting course before getting a pump in most areas. I am just going through the process of being considered for one and I have to do a course even though I am already proficient in carb counting.

i have my pump appointment next week.
the only carb counting i did was what my dietician showed me when i was first diagnosed 11 years ago.

oh balls :(
i'm desperate for a pump as i'm struggling with my hypos.
i gave the nurse everything i had done in terms of my diabetes & she said i'd be fine to go for it & it doesnt mention that you have to go on the course before you can have a pump in the stuff i got

Well you just have to prove you are proficient at carb counting but I don't see how you can do that really with all the highs and lows you keep getting.

I had to have holiday for my course, as my employer wouldn't give me the time off either - why don't you? because it DOES help.

I don't have many highs, it's the lows which are the pain.

I'm looking for a divorce lawyer so I can divorce my diabetes after being told the number of hospital appointments I have is rediculous!!!

I asked about that but they make me take some of my sick leave as holiday so I kinda need to keep it

What? - if you are ill you have to take the time off work as HOLIDAY?

What if you got knocked down by a bus? - you have to come in you have no holiday left so you can't go to A&E?

That surely has to be illegal.

I had gastroenteritis for 5 weeks, I took 10 days as holiday as I'd gone over my 2 week sickness allowance, 1 week SSP.

Work is funny with sick leave, I can't have any sick leave until November now.

Ah... I had the same where I used to work. You got a bit more each year you worked there, but I know I had 2 weeks paid leave and it was on a rotating basis. If you went sick in addition to your paid allowance you just didn't get paid, OR you could take annual leave. If it's in your contract it's quite legal. Fortunately I was hardly ever sick.

I understand you're not troubled by highs, but if you are having hypos and you've done your basal testing and your basal is steady, then the lows are likely to be miscalculations in bolus. OR what happens with me which is that I need less basal in the afternoon but more in the morning, so I can't ever get basal stable. All the same I think they like to ensure you know what you're doing, cos a pump isn't a magic wand and it needs a lot of work putting in.

I do hope you can get sorted. Continuous hypos are a right pain.
