Easiest thing I can do to keep son happy is buy the made ones and heat um up

The way to a man's heart is through his stomach - they start young don't they!

Those of you who are pancake purists might disagree with me, but I rather like the pre-filled crepes you can get in Asda. Ther're individually wrapped and keep for ages (if there are any left, that is!) 😛

Sorry I is a purist.

I keep saying I'm going to buy one of the giant round hotplates they use for crepes in France. But they fail as they never do lemon and sugar and you are condemned to Nutella and Chantilly cream! (or jam !)

Prob be told off for advertising, but our friends bought one of those crepe hot plate thingys from Costco I believe :D

One weekend we went over and if we had one crepe, we had a dozen I think. "Sure I can't get you another?" said Phil repeatedly, loving showing off his new toy - this from a man who had never cooked in his life!

He got so carried away with it he took it to his local village fete and sold crepes there!

For me though, a nice big fluffy fat pancake, not one of those thin things! Oh, and everso slightly crispy round the edges. Yum yum!

Pete just said 'You've got one of them' ie the frying pan. 'What's the difference?' he then asked.

You'd think it was blindingly obvious, wouldn't you?

Bigger pancakes!

However now I come to think, I don't want one. Too big to be put away in a cupboard between uses and anyway since I prefer mine rolled and eaten with a knife and fork, no plates large enough !

I'd be happy with currants in pancakes. Might help toward one of your five a day. :D

they never do lemon and sugar
crepe citron sucre? I think most of them have it, it's just often they cost as much as the more exotic creations.
We had 'pancake' day last week; chandeleur (Candlemass) is when the French eat pancakes.
Our village has a crepe evening, crepes and homemade jam. Very serious business, the various jams tasted and criticised, reputations stand or fall.
(actually I find most of them very runny )

Well Morrisons have them in the frozen section 6 for a quid so got 2 packs and some golden syrup and lemon juice for tomorrow.

Where's the fun in that Steff, it's all about the toss 🙂

I'm just not answering that Steff ! 😱

Helene I know that. Trouble is at most touristique places - eg t'front at Berck LOL (Kite festival here we come! - again) the catering for the uneducated masses has dumbed down the selection and even the au chocolat which used to be a rather good choc sauce, made with high cocoa content, slightly bitter, dribble .... now - Nutella. Pah. (I like Nutella. Just not on me crepes)

Yep, pouring jam. Don't seem to have heard about pectin do they?

Colleague went out & bought some microwave jobbies at lunch (has anyone tried these, I normally have my mum's, but she isn't doing them this year). In fridge waiting for tomorrow afternoon when the team is back in the office. I'll have to bring some lemon juice as we only have some suger in our tea club at the moment.

I think someone else is bringing in some Nutella (Yuc). Just lemon & a dash of sugar for me.

For carb counters:

🙂

You could always take the carb edge off them by making them with almond flour and sweetener.....

Way too sensible Deus, I only have pancakes once a year and I'm having the real deal, with real sugar 🙂
