I approached this with some dread as the DSN I usually see is a bit of a witch and always telling me I should try harder. But, having fought my way through a howling gale and a blizzard (oh, all right, I admit it was a stiff breeze, a light flurry and I took a taxi) to find a very nice lady who was delighted with my numbers and congratulated me on losing 2 kilos since December. She went through my new system (worked out with the help of a friend) which is designed to help me remember when to take what and keep the records up to date. Told me I'm doing the right things diet wise and to keep it up and did a mini HbA. Care to guess what it was?

I actually came out smiling. For the first time since Dx, I feel I have a handle on the D and not as if it's in charge of my life. I'd be skipping if I could, but I'd probably trip over the walking stick! The only change she suggested was a small carby snack at bedtime as I seem to be running a bit too low through the night. Where did I hide those Hobnobs?

sounds very positive and you sound much happier, glad it went well.

That's great news Alison! 🙂 Glad to hear you got to see a good 'un! I will hazard a guess at 6.8% 🙂

Great Alison. Really pleased for you 🙂

I guess a 6.0

Great news though! 🙂

I wish. She said I was on track for a low six when the time comes but the actual number today was 6.9. The lowest I've ever been and it was that because I've only been in single figures for about 5 weeks, before that the numbers were horrendous and this result reflects that.

6.9 is great 🙂 keep it up. you will beat D's ass!

Alison!

That's fantastic news.

It just makes ALL the difference, doesn't it? Finding someone who you truly feel is on YOUR side, who you aren't scared of talking to, who you feel will give you PROPER advice when you tell them you have a problem. Instead of constantly telling you you ain't trying hard enough and just demoralising and undermining your - fragile! - self-confidence even further.

I've been there. Deep sigh.

Now I LOVE my clinic appts - oh goody, I'm going to see Lynda, I say inside my head. And arrive relaxed with a smile on my face - which usually improves the BP measurement LOL - and leave with an even broader smile and a spring in my step.

Your Lynda - have you made a note of her name and will you be asking 'can I see (her) today please?' every time you go there now?

Oh yes, I know her name and I have her email so I can contact her if I have any questions or problems.

Oh that's great Alison.

(see, you cynics, there is a God)
