Could iron deficiant anemia alter hb1ac results?
Also what does 62% mean?

I wouldn't have thought so, but someone else may have a better answer and a proper explanaition later.

It may increase the HbA1c
A Dynamed summary on diabetes mellitus type 2 states that conditions affecting red blood cell lifespan may alter HbA1c levels [3]. HbA1c is decreased (falsely low) with conditions that shorten red blood cell lifespan such as acute or chronic blood loss, haemolysis, sickle cell anaemia, thalassaemias and hereditary spherocytosis [3]. However, HbA1c is increased with conditions that increase red blood cell lifespan such as iron deficiency anaemia, vitamin B12 deficiency, folate deficiency anaemia or splenectomy [3].

Thanks for the replies. It seems that my hb1ac will be affected and will read higher. I know it must be wrong, 62 or 7.8 old money, as my readings have been so good. I'm glad that I print out all of my pump and meter info, to back me up that my readings have been good. I will take them all to clinic, which isn,t until march. I should have had my treatment by then, I hope.
