So today so far
04:26am - 7.4
08:42 - 2.4
08:58 - 2.3
09:14 - 5.2
10:43 - 11.7
15:42 - 7.9

BI/lantus last reduced on Friday evening by 2u from 32u to 30u so it's been three days so I'm going to reduce it tonight by maybe 4u.

Hope it helps you get some decent numbers tomorrow Gill, waking to a 2.4 is not nice :(

Hi

Hope you have had some relief from the hypos?
If the hypos are difficult to predict I would say the Lantus may be more of an issue than the short acting insulin. I had really bad hypos and lost my warning signs when onMDI and it was the Lantus - I would have hypos at different times of the day etc.
In terms of waking up hypo the rule would be that if your BS are OK going to bed then the Lantus would be the culprit - what are your BS at say 3 or 4am? If they are OK then your fast acting insulin probably isn't sending them down as they would be low then as it would have well peaked before you get up in the morning. Lantus can also stay in your body for 36 hours so you may have 2 lots of it hanging about depending on how well it absorbs.

So today I've reached the 3 club!
08:47am - 3.3 - 3 jelly babies
09:00am - 3.3 - 3 jelly babies
09:00am - 8.0 - waited an hour until ready for bfast

BI/lantus last reduced on Monday evening by 4u from 30u to 26u so I might leave it and see what happens tomorrow morning then if still low then reduce again by 4u.

Should that last time be 10:00 am?

Almost there Gill! That's quite a reduction you've had to make over the past few weeks! 🙂

Hi liam,

Thank you! Thank also for your feedback/info.
My BS at 3 or 4am
19/11 - 03:58 - 6.5
20/11 - 03:12 - 4.1
23/11 - 02:49 - 10.9
26/11 - 04:26 - 7.4
27/11 - 02:59 - 10.3

And today I'm back in the 2 club 😡!
07:17am - 2.6 😱

BI/lantus last reduced on Monday evening by 4u from 30u to 26u so I'm decreasing again tonight by maybe another 4u from 26u to 22u. If BS levels start to creep up again I can always increase maybe by 2u each time.

Sounds sensible WM.

Of course, unless you are missing your eve meal each day, it may not be your Lantus that is causing the hypos (as I seem to remember you eat quite late in the evening?). Are you eating the sorts of meals that you can predict relatively easily?

Thank you.
I do have an evening meal but am trying very hard to bring my eating time earlier. Instead of 08:00pm - 08:30pm ish it's now about 07:00pm - 07:30pm ish. The sorts of meals I'm having are ones which I can predict relatively easily. If it's a ready meal I check the amounts on the packet eg 31.5g per/for 1/4 pkt. If it's something else then I check in my carbs & cals book.
