I love pizza but i always seem to have a hypo afterwards. Is it the fat causing the prob? Advice please (giving up pizza is not an option!)

Personally I can never understand why people like pizza. It's disgusting 😛

Best advise is to take note of your blood sugars, before, after and when hypo, then work out how to match your insulin delivery to your needs so you don't go hypo.
Have you looked in the food section under Bev's experiments? I know people tested out certain foods and recorded the results so you might find something useful there.

Thanks for that. Hadn't noticed that thread

The <strike>day</strike> fat in the pizza usually slows down the carbs, so you have a giddy combo of heavy carb load and delayed absorption. For many this involves some sort of 'split dose' where the calculated meal bolus is given in 2 or more mini doses to 'spread' the activity of the insulin to match the carbs.

The good news is that you will most likely need to do a *lot* of experimenting to find a system that works well 🙂

Who hadn't got the right fingers on their 'Home' keys when they typed the word 'fat' (in the pizza) then Mike !

Susan, I bung my pump on 'gimme about a third now and drip the rest in over about 4 or 5 hours' mode. Or you may need to stick it on 'drip' for the whole time. Or not even start the bolus till after you eat.

Aaaarrgghh.

You just have to play about till the results get bearable LOL
