Hello all

Feeling particularly low and rubbish today.
Seems med change is starting to not work again.
Not been naughty and just had a nasty 13.6 reading. Feel like crying I'm so fed up.

Hope the hospital put me on the insulin I've asked for when they see my readings on Tuesday. Feeling like a failure

Hi Megan,
(((((((((((hugs)))))))))))) nope you are not a failure. Sometimes your body just does not want to play ball, it's not your fault that you have the wrong meds for your needs. Fingers crossed for tuesday for you.

Thanks sue

I'm looking forward to insulin even though it scares me a bit. I think I will get much better control with it.

Don't beat yourself up, Megan, it's not your fault. Good luck with insulin, apart from the nuisance re driving, it will make your control much better.
When they do put you on insulin, unless you have lots of fat to inject in try and get the smaller pen needles. I started on the .8 needles which are quite long and a bit thicker. now on .6 which are much better.

Vicsetter- is it scarey to start with?? I have no idea what needles I will get but I'm sure that I prob have enough covering. I had a test run with a needle before and it didn't hurt but I have no idea what gauge that needle was.

Have to admit to being a bit scared of the whole thing but being fed up enough of being a tablet guinea pig to want to try it now

Perhaps the hardest thing is to maintain a positive attitude to diabetes and be prepared to fight it. The only scary thing is the thought of a 'hypo', but this probably won't happen so try not to worry about it.
Do you have a partner or close support? It helps to talk about things.

Let us know how you get on and what regime they put you on.

I have a very supportive husband.
Even if he does have a very annoying sweet tooth that I try hard to ignore lol

I hate to say it, but when you are on insulin you do have a bit more latitude to counteract those naughty moments.

LOL at Vicsetter - yes we do!

Actual insulin jabs, especially with lovely little pen needles, are actually painless - in fact, feeling-less - and I can tell you the thought of them is a million times worse than actually doing them.

Just a question to save me looking up old posts - do they actually KNOW (ie proved beyond shadow of a doubt with GAD65 and/or C-peptide blood tests) that you are definitely T2?

Hi trophywench

I've never had a c-peptide done to my knowledge but at diagnosis my GAD came back negative. Would that mean I'm def T2? I'm not fitting very neatly into my surgeries T2 box lol
