I had a cortisone injection in my shoulder on Tuesday morning. (For painful tendonitis that had been getting progressively worse over several months.)

Ever since the injection my BS levels have been elevated, which I understand is a side effect of the steroid injection. I've increased my insulin basal rate by 20% and taken successive correction doses to try and get it down to normal.

Does anyone have any experience of how long the effect of the steroid will last on the BS levels?

Hi m1.
most find the effect lasts about 10 day's :( If you are having to do corrections as well as a temp basal then you need to up the basal even more as it obviously isn't working :(

hope the injection has worked and the levels come down soon

10 days! Wow! Thanks for the info though. I'll up my basal by another 10% and see how that works.

Big improvement already. Doctor said it would take 2-3 days to become fully effective, and would be permanent. Looking forward to getting back on the golf course.
