Oh well, just to add to my dubious status as an "interesting case" for student doctors everywhere, I have just been diagnosed with "Plantar Faciitis" in my heel (aparently called 'Flip Flop disease' in the states - love it!!:D) and carpal tunnel syndrome in my hands...at last I can explain to the IT dept why I keep fudging my loggins! 😛

Actually, I'm delighted! They are both relatively treatable & at least it's not full blown neuropathy...I was starting to be convinced that my body had decided to fall apart after 30yrs of diabetes lol!!

Ho hum...

twitchy my o/h has this(planter facilist) he was off work 3 mnth , then had 5 sessions of phsyciotherapy, she gave him 3 techniques i shall mail you if i can be of any help and let you know x

Hi Twitchy

I had Caparal Tunnel Syndrome operated on in both hands ten years' ago and not had any noticeable problems since. The scars are also minimal as the surgeon traced one of the lines in each hand so that it matched that. Hope that everything goes as well for you.🙂

I had carpel tunnel in my two hands and also had the op - brilliant! No problem since i had it done and very tiny scars along the line of my palm.🙂Bev

Thanks, that's really encouraging! The only "family" experience I'm aware of is my M-in-Law, being of that generation, bless her, she didn't like to complain & didn't say anything til it was really bad. She's had the op on both hands but without much success. Good to hear it can work!!

Steph, how do I tell you my email without sticking it out publicly, as it were??

Ouch-know how that feels

I'm a carer but I have autoimmmune thyroid disease, carpel tunnel apparently comes as part of the package, after waking up on numerous occasions and having to bang my arm against the bed to get some life into my hand only to suffer agnonising pain and the joy of wearing a wrist brace in bed at night-very sexy- I can totally sympothise!

Hi I had planter whatever... its called policemans heel too as bobby's on the beat used to get it.
I got it when i worked in an office and was mainly seated then ran around town for an hour at lunch. i had physio and innersoles and it was sorted quite quickly.
So painful though i don't envy you!!

Glad it is something that can be treated. An elderly friend had carpal tunnel and was given wrist supports that went up to her elbows that seemed to do the trick, although it is more commonly treated with an op.

Unexplained pain hurts more when you don't know what it is because you are worrying about it. Once you know what it is and that it can be treated, it takes some of the worry away.
