I think I just had my first hypo!
I was sat at my computer, and started to feel a little jittery and shaky. took my BS, and it was 3.7

So I had 3 jelly babies, followed by a wholemeal role with some beef in it.
Just tested, and 15 minutes are this started, I am now 6.1

I think it's the heat...I don't cope well with heat. We had been shopping an hour previous, and I felt a little hot and dizzy, so tested BS then, and it was 4.9

at least I know now how it feels, and I know I really don't want to feel like it again!

I was exactly the same after having my first, but did feel somewhat better that I knew what to expect! Touch wood, not had another since!!!

Good that you knew it and were able to treat it effectivley. Well done 🙂

LOL...thankyou 😉
Hopefully that will be my one and only....

I don't need to tell my GP do I?

Good to hear that you dealt with it well 🙂 You may not have needed the bread roll though - the difficulty is in getting the balance right between raising your levels quickly and keeping them up, and overtreating and bouncing back high.

No need to specially inform your GP. I'm afraid it is unlikely to be your last one - one of the difficulties in keeping tight control of your blood sugar levels is that sometimes you will go low, but as long as you are able to recognise it and treat appropriately it's not really a problem. Just make sure you always have some jelly babies on you 🙂

I just mentioned it at my next review, if you keep having them then it's probably worth bringing up before then otherwise chalk it up to experience 🙂

Just to add, if you do start having them regularly then it means you need to reduce your insulin doses, so this is something you may wish to speak to your GP about.

I always carry JB in my bag since I started on the Insulin.
I had the roll purely because I felt I needed to keep eating. It was like I was losing control and i just needed to eat and sit down. Should I have just had the JB's and fought the urge to eat...I wouldn't say i was panicking, but I just wanted to get rid of the feeling I had!

The only thing that was different today, apart from the heat, was I had a late breakfast, and then only 3 hrs later, lunch, so I am wondering if I took the novorapid too close, although my BS didnt indicate I was particularly low before lunch (if that makes sense!)

Hah! - heat plus you underestimate the power of the supermarket to induce hypoglycaemia!

There's a blog about that, hilarious .....

You can always rely on TerryG, his one about potty training is also equal fun if you've ever had kids ! (no, actually, even if you haven't)

The supermarket is enough to bring anything on!!! I once suffered a bout of Status Epilepticus (non-stop life threatening seizures) that started in the very same supermarket! I will be sure to check out this blog...🙂

Brilliant!!!!!

That is hilarious!! :D

My first ever hypo was in a supermarket too.

And I identify with the "need to EATTTTTTT" because that does happen too and it is hard to learn not to over treat them. I want to eat a PACK of biscuits along with the jelly babies, even though I don't obviously!

Oh and where do I find the potty training one? :D My daughter just potty trained a few weeks ago....

It's horrible isn't it! I had to force myself out of the kitchen! I knew if I over ate I would just push myself too high, and as I have finally got my numbers down, i want them to stya down, obviously not below 4 tho! haha!!!

And you will find the second link on robofski post is the link to the potty training!! Its brilliant!
