Heartburn pills increase risk of cancer and heart disease

I have been taking Omeprazole one and off for a few years now and am now a bit concerned after reading this article today.

Is there any natural remedy for heartburn that can be recommended by anyone?

......I've been taking Omeprazole for about 6 months now and I read the article in the Daily Mail yday, at first I was a little worried, however, according to the Daily Mail everything seems to be harmful sometimes!

I take omeprazole. I also take a high strength probiotics. I wouldn't be without them. I am going to have a word with gp and see if I can come off omeprazole. It is recomended to have your bed head higher. I am so lucky, as my mother left me some money and I have bought a beautiful knig size, hand carved, oak bed which raises top, middle, or feet end of bed electronically, with little handset. It also has a massager in the mattress. I really love it. I also have sleep aponea which advises to raise bed head, so both things are being helped.
I used to take another medication, losartin?. I am going to see about getting back on these, if needed.

I've taken 20mg of omeprazole every morning for 9 years. Haven't read the Mail for probably 3 years.
