I wondered how long it takes before favourable results in self testing of BG levels are seen after being prescribed metformin.

I know everyone is different.... but I just wondered how soon I might see some lowering of BG level

patience isn't my strong point 😉

Probably weeks rather than days.

"Clinically significant" reductions in A1c are seen on doses of 1500-2500. And patients usually have to titrate upto that dose in gradual steps to avoid the after effects of Metfartin.

And don't forget to moderate carbs because many people find its carb loading that exacerbates tummy problems with Metformin.

that makes sense.... I had a bacon butty as a 'treat' and suffered for it!

Could have been the fat in the bacon, the butty is not a good idea anyway, whats the point of taking medicine to reduce your blood sugar and then eating carbs (in my opinion you can't have a decent butty without white bread, so no buttys for me).

yuck!! white bread 😱 poison!!!

I never eat white bread..... always has to be a lovely brown with lots of seeds 😛
