Having had a chest infection since September which has lasted all winter, I went canoeing and was told that I had Ramipril cough by another diabetic, he told me that it had been raised on women?s hour and was a very well known side effect ---- this I mentioned to my Dr who said 'well we missed that one'! I have had 4 lots of medication lasting weeks to clear this up,with no joy -- 3 weeks without Ramipril and no coughing ----- though the laughing and coughing made the film PAUL even more of a laugh for those watching it with me!! I was laying on the floor unable to see well enough to sit up!!!

I hope that this information helps some one else.😱

Aaaah, the dreaded 'ACE' cough ...... I had to swap to an ARB instead - they all end with ---sartan' rather than '---pril'.

So I chnaged from Lisinopril to Olmesartan then they decided that was too dear so it became Losartan which I still take. I think the ARBs aren't reckoned to be quite as 'kidney protective' as the ACEs though.

Cough

I am just delighted to get rid of the cough, it passed being a pain in October, at new year I was coughing myself sensless a few times a day,

Hi,

I have been on Ramapril for I dunno 3 months or so, and no such cough, did it creep up on you or did you get it from the get go??

Cheers

I didn;t get on with ramipril so my GP changed it to candesartan - she told me the opposite, that it was more kidney protective! 🙄
