Had my blood tests results back from 2 weeks ago, im low on folic acid and my thyroid result came back borderline test to be repeated in 3 month, I thought we took folic acid when pregnant so confused about the lowness thing, anyone able to help

Thanks

p.s got to ring docs monday lunchtime but ill go off and see if i can find anything out online

Hi Steph

Folic acid is one of the B vitamins and helps prevent anemia as well as being needed when pregnant to help baby form properly (think it's to do with forming nervous system from memory)

So your tests mean you might be a bit anemic but that it's not iron deficiency - you need to eat more Folic acid rich foods which from memory are dark green food and liver - but I will go away and look that up to be sure.

Hope thyroid comes back OK 🙂

Hi MM

Thanks for the prompt reply im just reading i may have to up my intake of spinach and pulses etc etc.
When reading the symptoms of vit b 3 of them strike a chord with me as well .

Off to read your link

Any vitamin deficiency can be 'got rid of' if you make changes🙂

The problem with things like Folic acid is that it is not stored in the body so you have to have some every day - but you don't need much so I'm surprised you have a deficiency.

Doc will probably give you a supliment but can't do any harm to up your intake of the 'right' foods - you can't really overdose because of the body not storing it.

Tanks ladies

Read up loads and now know what's what at least

Typically the time she wants me to ring is when I start work but I'll sneak in toilet ha
