Well i thought i was getting better this morning but obviously not as tonight im running a fever almost at 38, my throat is in absolute agony and can barely swallow anything or talk. Definately think its a case of strep throat but my sugar levels have been high above 17 for the past few days, i had a plummet to 4 this morning and then they shot back up to 20.5. in addition to this its that time of month. I'm peeing more than usual but can't check to see if i have Ketones. My hubby is worried about me but i don't know what to do to be honest.

any advice welcomed

agree with above posts please call nhs now, hope you make a speedy recovery with treatment hugs

Call NHS Direct and get some advice. Hope you feel better soon.

Unfortunately still no phone, took some ibuprofen and been having strepsils sugar free but its only very slightly taken the edge of it. I checked my ketones as my period has eased off a fair bit and my ketone reading is 4mmlo managed to eat something very very painfully.

Dont you have a mobile between you, or ask one of your neighbours, if I was poorly enough I would get hubby to go to nearest phone box or he would of already done so if he was so worried

Gonna see if my sugar levels come down and check Ketone levels again in a few hours. Topping my mobile up soon so we have some way of contacting and my mum is hanging on the other side of the computer chat. My hubby is keeping a very close check on me to see how i go but if i end up in much more pain then we've both agreed we'll probably end up going into AnE.

Does that sound like a sensible thing to do? I have to take into mind i have a little girl as well and don't want to go into hospital on my own :(

MummyRose - you need some proper medical advice - IMO you need to get yourself down to A&E - your OH can look after your daughter can't he?

And if I was on as tight as a budget as you seem to be, with a small child and a medical condition, I would first if all make sure I had access to a phone, rather than access to the Internet. Sorry, I know I don't know all of your circumstances, but however much advice people may give over t'internet, it's no substitute for a trained medic actually seeing you.

Please don't be offended, I am trying to help. I hope you feel better soon

MM Xx

No offence taken Mean Mum, my mum is ringing NHS for me but my husbands really not happy with my situation so think he's calling the shots

I am a bit confused by your ketone readings, however, a blood reading of 4mmol is high, equally a urine ketone test of ++++ is high.
You need medical advice - and you also need to stay hydrated.

If you haven't been able to contact NHS direct get yourself to A&E.

NHS wanted me to go to walk in centre but by the time i had come round my temp had gone down, my sugar level had gone down and the ketone reading had gone down. This morning feeling alot better, still got sore throat but all in all i feel rather good today still a bit sleepy though lol
