test strips

Thanks for this,
I have written to my consultant, and to the Secretary of Health to find out what his position is on this. I have no option but to fight it. I can't function like this. But it is really scaring me.
Thanks for your support.

Sue, this is ludicrous - I really hope that you get some results quickly. I'm really angry on your behalf, especially with the DSN who suggests more than 4 tests is somehow an indulgence - do they think that we enjoy stabbing our fingers? Even more so as you are newly-diagnosed. If your consultant back the restriction then you must ask to be referred to another who understands insulin-controlled diabetes better. Please let us know how you get on.

Not being rude, but are you 100% certain this person is a DSN?

Firstly, a properly qualified nurse, who then gained experience and decided to specialise, which involved working in a teaching hospital diabetes dept full time, whilst studying for the degree course and passing the exams? (the latter 2 things mainly in their own time, not working hours)

That is the route to 'nurse specialism' across all specialisms - as I understand it.
