Any fellow Scots using this service..............?

Just got my login details at the weekend. So far its really good, provides me with all my history right back to diagnosis, specifically;

Height
Weight
BMI
Flu Immunization
HbA1c
Cholesterol - HDL, LDL & Trig
Blood Pressure
Creatinine
eGFR
Retinal Screening
Foot Screening

It provides graphs for all the numerical information also, I didn't really know how my diabetes was since diagnosis, but its been pretty consistent, even if not the best..........

It also gives you everything that has been prescribed to you by the doctor and lists all appointments you have made.......

Dont know if this service is available outwith Scotland, but it should be......

Wow, that sounds great! I'm not in Scotland, but I hope we get something like this too! It would be great to be able to see all that information, which as useful as it is to them, is also very useful to us with our management too.

As TOWIE would say - I'm well jel!! lol 😛

It was talked about for us in England, but I'm almost sure that I have since heard it has been shelved.

John.

I am not sure how it functions exactly, but I believe all this information I am able to view is stored anyway..............

Its just getting that information across on a website that's the tricky part, so whether it takes some manpower to collate it or whatever.......

Its still fairly new within my catchment, it was actually started in Dundee I believe......

Yes I use it and it is good it is run from a Hospital in Dundee As far as I know it is only in Scotland. I'm not sure when or if it will be available in england

Ninewells Hospital in Dundee is very proactive in many areas of care, including diabetes - some basic information about clinics etc here http://www.diabetes-healthnet.ac.uk/Default.aspx?pageid=172

Considering the differences in NHS administration between the home nations, sadly, I think there will be lots more "reinventing the wheel" rather than adopting good schemes between nations.

I wanted to sign up for it but Dr Idiot wouldn't approve it, nor will anyone else at the surgery. I may ask at the clinic. I understand it's only running in Scotland at the moment and aims to give diabetics easier access to their test results and, eventually, treatment plans. The idea being to get us more proactively involved in our diabetes management. I'm told there has been significant resistance from GPs and the whole thing may get scrapped as a result. Pity.

My DSN was skeptical, this is who I asked, as my GP has nothing to do with my Diabetes care...............however it was simply because she had not heard anything about it and thought that she or her colleagues would have to have some kind of input, but no, she just signed a form and that was it..........

There really isn't any more to it that that............:D

Alison, it can be any HCP that deals with you, if you attend a clinic, they should always be first choice in my opinion...........

Quite funny, I was able to see my latest blood test results the day before I went to see my GP, so ended up being the shortest consult I've ever had.
Yup, ok, liver ok, hba1c ok, see you.

I dont know if access to all these numbers will encourage me to get better control, or scare me............

I just got told about this on Friday too - have sent an interest in the service and I am awaiting a form to get my DSN to sign so I can get signed up.

I think it looks excellent, right up my street - I like to be able to see everything! Wonder why GP's have been resistant to it....? 😡

They're worried we'll go looking things up and talking about things on the internet! 😉

😱 Who on EARTH would do such a thing as THAT I ask you?! How very dare they! 😱

I understood that this was a commercial system and certainly money has to change hands. But whether the GPs have to pay anything, or whether the cost is entirely borne by the PCT, I don't know.

Hi novorapidboi

I used it when it first launched, but the login name is so difficult to remember!! I have to admit I've not used it for a long time (mainly due to the login details) I'd use it a lot more if I didn't have to keep going and finding the letter with my 'citizen account' details.
