I'm trying to be productive today... but i've ended up on here "]

Been a bit of a rollercoaster recently, bloods were up a bit post 2hrs for a while - not sure if it was poor matching of spike/insulin peak. How do you guys cope with that? I like cheese with my food... a lot of it and it's proving to be a problem.

But then yesterday, out of nowhere I just kept going low. Okay so I had been drinking the day before but by the time I was low it wouldn't have been the cause... basically I had a sweet tea at 230pm and that sent me to 18 :O I had already eaten some pasta and was at 14 so I suppose the spike wasn't that high really.. I took 3u at 3pm and it was coming down steadily. Until 5:20 when I hit a 5.9 so I thought oh thats good, went to cook dinner as I knew I was dropping. There I was eating, I felt quite sick too and I didn't want to inject for the burger.. so I didn't. I started feeling more odd once i'd finished the burger... tested with a 3.0 😱 😱 That is like my lowest I get at the moment... But I was like wth because of eating the burger and luckily had a powerade sat under my desk. Had that and then tested by 7pm I was 8.5 bearing in mind I had no insulin! and then after that I just kept dropping!!!! Nice of you to kick in dear panc' :/

Ended up going to bed on a 3.8 where it actually had come up a bit. I was fed up by then, and knowing I had no injected insulin on board I wasn't too worried. Woke up with a 6.9 this morning so i'm fine 🙂

On the other hand, I have just started taking vitamin D as I read it increases insulin sensitivity so if this is the case... I didn't expect it to be THAT effective 😛

Hope everyone is well 🙂

ps. theres a limit to 4 images per post :O ?!

Wow, quite a few ups and downs there! What an awkward pancreas you have :( Hope things stabilise today and your levels behave according to 'plan'! 🙂

oh no, I hope things sort themselves out soon for you :( horrible when readings go like that - really takes it out of you doesn't it.

Can anyone confirm about the Vit D increasing insulin sensitivity?? (are they tablets you take??)

I got the idea from here; http://bebalanced52.com, a girl in a similar situation as me! But her results were pretty astonishing in my opinion. Anything's worth a try 🙂

I'm was actually starting to worry about my body trying to reject my insulin now it would have got used to it... my theory is if I am IA2/IAA positive then that attacks my insulin and therefore would attack this too???

Not 100% sure, but don't they attack something else rather than the insulin itself exactly?

I think it's your beta cells getting attacked, that produce the insulin, rather than the insulin itself. If you're injecting then there's nothing to attack.

I was just wondering if your injection timing and ratios may need to be reviewed as well.

Pasta can have a very delayed spike and cheese will always do the same in any quantity.

WOuld it be possible to have a week with fairly plain, medium GI meals and avoid sweet tea (is that fruity tea or do you take sugar ? 😱), etc.

Basically go back to basics so you can see if your pancreas is playing tricks or whether you just need to change some habits.🙂

Even more up and down today.... I hit a 2.1 !!!! Really got me for no reason to be honest, I had tomato soup and pitta bread at lunch and a bit of a walk to uni, but usually am fine with that! Who knows ey?

I'm not really sure how all these antibodies work, I just know I don't have the common ones :( Does anybody know if my regular GP would be able to refer my bloods for special testing?

Yeah I don't usually drink such sweet tea!!! I was just really craving a smoothie and that was the closest thing in the house. Today I bought an equivalent thats just 9.8g carb (10g) and no sugar so it shouldn't be a problem on occasion.

What would count as medium GI meals?

Maybe the tablets are working? It wouldn't surprise me, i'll keep them up for a few weeks then come off them again and record the effects. It would be great if they are! I need to speak with my nurse really.

I reckon that dratted Diabetes Fairy has swapped your pancreas for mine! That sounds just like the roller coaster I was on till just recently. It's horrid and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it, and I don't know what to suggest, but I'm sending you a huge virtual hug. I hope things stabilise soon.

I was going to suggest something pitta and soup as a medium GI meal !:D

Exercise (and lack of) is often cumulative, so if you walk for 3 days out of 5, then you'll need less insulin by day 3, but the next 2 days of not walking would gradually send your BGs up again. If that makes sense.

I doubt if any of this is relevant, but I like to try and think of things that are both obvious and obscure just in case any of it helps.🙂

I dropped all my doses to 2u since tuesday, it worked much better! Still in the 4 - 7 2hrs after meals believe it or not!

I've been advised by the LADA facebook group that it is best to get a blood test to see how vitamin D is doing as supposedly can cause toxicity. But considering it is working well so far, i'm going to keep it up!

I even covered a slice of cake yesterday with 1 unit and 2hrs 8.6 so thats not bad at all! Perhaps it's because i've been extra busy as well this week? We will have to see!

Seem to be more stable now though on the 2u suggesting 3 - 4 was too much along with Vit D

Glad to hear you are finding some stability Liz 🙂 I'm having to think about dropping my lantus to one unit as I woke at 4.6 this morning and had a couple of hypos yesterday. One unit hardly seems worth it, does it? 😱
