anyone tried Sainsbury's Organic sunflower & pumpkin seed loaf? it is my favourite bread :D

the slices are really small .... but very filling.... and delicious.... and doesn't make me spike

100g of the bread:-
254kcals
11.4 protein
40g carbs
of which 1.4g is sugar
fat 5.4g
of which saturates is 1.4g
mono-unsats is 0.5g
poly-unsats is 0.7g
fibre 3.9g
salt 0.24g

it isn't the type of loaf to feed to a large family....... unless you have a lot of money 🙄 but it is the best 'treat' loaf ever. I love it toasted on a Sunday morning just with butter .... ooops! I meant Benacol spread 😱

would love to know if anyone else buys it and what you think of it 😛

What does a slice weigh? (ish) - ie how many g carb a slice?

I can't weigh a slice for you as my scales are almost as ancient as I am 😱 so are not accurate (I keep meaning to buy some fancy new scales).... but the packet says

12g of carbs per slice with 0.4g being sugars

personally..... I can't eat any more than 3 slices at a sitting.... the bread is fairly solid (in a nice way)..... or should I say 'compact' LOL

hope that helps 🙂

ps...... the Sainsbury's around where I live don't stock it...... so a friend in Hudderfield gets it for me... but if you do online shopping at Sainsbury's you would be able to get it. I think only the very large Sainsbury's have it on their shelves

Sounds nice, I must look out for it when I go on my Burgen-quest (I have to go far afield to get a month's supply of Burgen, as none of the shops close by sell it). 🙂

Love it!

Get that whenever I Sainsburys shop for me to eat - we always have at least 2 loaves on the go in this house as OH prefers White, K likes White but will eat wholemeal, but doesn't like 'bits' - though will eat the odd bit of granary if served it at cafe. Personally find White bread bland even if I make it myself.

By the way (sorry straying from topic) does anyone make their own bread, and if so how do you go about carb counting it?

Always used to make all our bread, but haven't dared since Dx as K would be likely to randomly cut herself a slice and call it 15 carbs or something😱

Work out the flour carbs by weight, (strong white is 70g carb per 100g) so you'd know the total, then weigh the loaf, cut a slice and weigh that! LOL

Same as you do with cake etc.
