got my plaster cast changed

well my appointment was on friday past to check my wounds were healing an thankfuly they seem to be healing well even though i have diabetes an i smoke the consultant said i was doing good, xray was good, they said everything was knitting together nicely, was to scared to ask before about how many plates an screws were in my foot but i did on friday an i have 5 scerws, 2 plates an a longer screw holding it all in place. there is 18 stiches. got my cast changed to a light weight one but unfortantly still not allowed to put any weight at all on it so still have to use the wheelchair an still be in cast for the 3 months. im back for another check up on the 23rd so hopefuly it will be more good news that everything is doing well.
 
Good to hear that everything is healing nicely Tracey 🙂 Hope it continues and you can get back on your feet early in the new year! 🙂

That's certainly a lot of metalwork in your foot - I've got quite an impressive load of scaffolding in my leg from when my leg broke! 😱
 
thaks alan, i hope to be back on my feet in new year fingers crossed. yeah its more than i thought there would be, did it take long for your leg to heal alan an did you have any problems?

It took me about 6 months before I was walking again, although I needed another 6 months of physiotherapy before I was back running again. It's been 7 years now and I don't really have any problems, just one or two minor niggles. 🙂

p.s. this is what my leg looks like on the 'inside'! 😱

glad to hear you you havent had alot of lasting problems alan, wow 6 months sounds so long, they did mention physio to me.
did they give you ur pic of your xray alan? x

I broke my leg in Sweden and they gave me my x-rays when I left hospital 🙂 The NHS won't give you your x-rays as I remember asking for mine when I broke my arm and they said they couldn't give me them.

I was able to get around on crutches after a couple of days, but couldn't put weight on my leg for three months - still needed one crutch for another three months.

awh right, i did get to see them when the doc was looking at them.
they gave me crutches and a wheelchair but i cant manage the crutches very well, keep thinking im gona fall over. yeah the same for me alan no weight on it for 3 months, its very furstating x
