Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi Everyone

I was diagnosed in early September 2011 with Type 2 diabetes. I am taking 3 x Metformin daily and 1 x Simvastisin.

I also take medication for blood pressure and Citalapram for a breakdown I had a couple of years ago.

I currently work as a Finance Manager and hold a very responsible position.

For the past 2 - 3 weeks I have been finding concentration very poor. I loose things, find it difficult to speak correct words and do simple things like typing an e-mail without making silly spelling mistakes. I feel great one second and then complete dispair for nothing within minutes. Am I out of control??? Am I loosing my mind????
I had my HbA1c last week and was given good results - a stone in weight loss since diagnosis, halfed my cholesterol, and no need to up my dose of Metformin.

What is wrong with me.............can anyone identify with what I am feeling please?

Tracey x

Hi Tracey. For responsible, I'm guessing you could have substituted stressful ?

Along with the diagnosis, the (self-induced?) pressure to lose weight, remain active and make yourself healthier, you may well be feeling the strain.

As Toby says, it's time to go back to your GP and explain how you feel so he/she can properly diagnose what may be happening. It's not uncommon to find yourself going through a period of grief after diagnosis, which may well be what's hitting you. But definitely get yourself checked over properly.🙂

Hi Tracey,
1 x Simvastisin.

Have a look at the side effects of your statin, I would suspect that's what is causing your problems. Perhaps a chat with your GP would be in order?
Hope you feel better soon.

Go back and have a chat to your doctor, ask questions and be kid to yourself. There is alot to come to terms with. If you feel you need support, ask for it, come here and ask questions, we are all in the same boat.

I hope you feel better soon
