2 days ago, 2 hrs after brekkie I had a small (soya ) latte and 2 ginger biscuits at Costa coffee. One and a half hours later I felt very shaky . I did my BG and it was 5.1 !!. Strange I would have thought the 'milky' coffee and the ginger biscuits would have elevated it?.

The fat in the milk and the biscuits slows down the absorption rate.

5.1 is a good number but if you have been used to having higher numbers it will feel like a hypo and your body will react accordingly.

I hope you are feeling better.

That is strange. It may be that your pancreas had been stimulated sufficiently by your breakfast earlier and then kicked in again when you had the biscuits resulting in reactive hypoglycaemia. Well, 5.1 isn't a hypo, but you may have felt as you did because either you are not used to levels like that, or it could also be that your levels were still falling which can also give you more pronounced symptoms I have found.

Thanks. I usually have brekkie about 7ish then had the coffee/biscuits about 11.30.

I am due another HBA1c in October.
