Hi

I haven't been on since May of this year, cause I was getting conflicting information from my doctors regarding my diagnosis. So I didn't feel comfortable talking about diabetes with people who had it, whilst I was unsure of what my diagnosis was at the time.

Anyway, things are slowly improving, even if I had to move doctors surgery to get what I felt was the right information.

Hi Aileen nice to see you again. There are a few members who have struggled to get the right diagnosis. I hope that you have finally got a definitive answer from your team. If you don't feel like chatting about your diabetes - until you are sure where you stand - you can always try the off the subject area. Sometimes it just nice to have somewhere to post and chat.

Thanks Margie,

I've been told Type 2 for the moment, but am keeping a close eye on my levels, as I've had severe symptoms, but had not passed ketones, so far since I was 1st diagnosed.

My diabeteic nurse has given me a blood sugar moniter and lancets and strips. As it stands I now feel that I'm not getting confusing conflicting information from the people round me. Just good old solid facts as they stand atm. So its all good.

Hi Aileen, good to hear from you again 🙂 As margie says, we have quite a few members, unfortunately, who have had difficulty getting the right diagnosis and treatment. Sometimes the symptoms and indications are not clear and some doctors seem to give more weight to things such as age on diagnosis, weight etc. We've even had people being told by their doctor that they can't be Type 1 because they are too old!

Sounds like you have a good team behind you now, so I hope that you are able to take command of your diabetes and maintain good, healthy control 🙂

Aileen good to hear from you again pleased things are improving

Welcome back to the forum 🙂

You managed to change surgeries? That's impressive since for all the dealings I've had with surgeries they have been very strict on the practise boundaries. Hope the new one isn't too far away for you.

Luckily its the same distance away, but in the opposite direction, I had explained the situation and they were happy to take me

Welcome back Aileen 🙂
