Just had my 5th hypo of the day! Stupid gardening! 😡 Thought I'd headed the last one off when I tested an hour ago at 4.4 and had a kitkat, but just tested and I'm 3.6! Think it might be that basal needs have changed today for some reason as I've been lowering bolus for all meals today. Having said that, last night I was rock steady - bed at 5.3, 4.8 middle of night and 5.2 on waking, so basal can't be that bad!

I shake my head at you and your conundrums, Diabetes!

Have you been gardening yesterday as well or was today a one off ?

I find basal needs drop for each day I'm active. I reckon if I was doing heavy work for a fortnight I'd be cured ! :D

Running and a bit of gardening yesterday, lots of gardening today!

You challenged the Diabetic Fairy with the epic and she answered back😉

Curse you Fairy! 😡 🙂

God that diabetic fairy is a dirty cheating little so and so !!

Haha! I've been thinking of you and the day you had! Now I know exactly how you felt - must go back and read what I suggested you do! :D

When you get days like this Alan ,do you then find the next day or a couple days later you get a day where your bloods run slightly higher ?

I do, but I put that down to the fact that I usually lower my lantus by a unit (which I did last night). As I'm on such a low dose of lantus this tends to push me the other way - it would be easier if I could inject half units 🙂

You definitely must!! oh what up and downs we have lol x

Maybe that explains my continuing hypos too, I've been a lot more active lately. I'm a deckchair gardener myself, with just the two raised beds, a window box and a small cold frame.

This is the bit I was tackling yesterday. Doesn't look much, but it is covered in well-established ivy and that has deep roots everywhere 😱 Hope to be able to post some 'after' pictures' next spring when all the lovely bulbs I plan to plant come out! 🙂

Oh yes, that looks like a real back breaker of a job. I should tackle it in easy stages were I you. Lots of tea breaks.

How much would it cost to hire a rotorooter for a day?

I'm not sure. Actually I don't mind doing it manually as I find it therapeutic and a good workout to complement my running, which just really involves my legs 🙂 Because it is just borders which are quite narrow in parts I'm not shure if a rotovator would be suitable. I even have a mechanical mower for the lawn which is a good upper body workout 🙂

First gardening hypo of the day today, a 2.8 😱 To be expected I suppose as I also went for a run this morning, and althought I reduced my lunchtime bolus by 25%, obviously my basal is now too high! Can't do much about that - if I'd reduced it last night then i would have been high this morning. Stupid diabetes making me try to predict my activity levels days in advance, but depriving me of the ability to really do much about it 😡 Still, a couple of nice jelly babies and a garibaldi biscuit have gone down a treat! 🙂

Im like that I just take 10 units lantus and keep hypo throughout the day put it down to 9 and then I am in the 12.0 14.0 I have just said to hubby I could do with a half unit pen for Lantus this just drives me mad. I carnt wate untill I get that pump

Have you got long to wait now? I'm sure it will make such a difference to you 🙂

I find, if I drop my lantus by a unit, I often have to up my bolus by 1 to make sure the meal is better covered. Otherwise you can end up with a higher spike after your meal and the lower lantus won't bring it down.🙂

And vice versa.

Might be worth a try. Either way, it's a very complicated palaver.🙄

I was doing that and still high all day even had to give corrections should not be that high 5 hours after a meal so I have put it back to 10 and so far had last 2 days ok watch it will go mad agen in less than a week.
Havent heard anything about the pump hope it wont be long.

Hi Alan

Sorry to hear that you've been having so many hypos, not fun at all. You must be really pleased with yourself with how much progress you're making with the garden............and it is sometimes nice to have an excuse to eat jelly babies🙄

Thanks Amanda 🙂 I did a bit more today and just narrowly avoided a hypo - thought I would test and it showed up as 4.1! Topped up with jBs and a cereal bar and went back to it. Just tested now at 4.8 🙂
