Oopsie daisy I had two rashers this morning and ive had two every other morning this week, wonder if it will increase my risk of getting diabetes 🙄:D does a Linda Mccartney veggie sausage count too?

In that case I should be type 2, because I eat far more than 500g of red meat a week, adding on that I'm overweight and don't do enough exercise 😱

Ah THATS what we did wrong.... It was that extra sausage...............

I'm surprised that the whole population of Denmark isn't type 2 with the amount of bacon they produce or do we eat it all?
BTW technically I thought pork was a white meat not red! not much myaglobin involved.

Red meat has lots of saturated fat so the results shouldn't be a surprise, but once again it's just statistical analysis. As to sausages, most of them have very little meat at all!

Reading the Daily Mail can increase your chances of developing ignorance by 50%. Possibly. 🙄

They seem to be the only paper that hasn't been implicated in the phone hacking scandal. The only thing they'd have found out would have been factual. No use to them.

Rob

Remember, you can't spell "analysis" without "anal"! :D

Does that mean if I stop having my weekly treat of bacon, eggs and tomatos and stop having sausages in the week the diabetes will miraculously go away?

Guess what I had for my breakfast

Oh well - I cant get Diabetes anyway as I have already got it 🙂

Is anyone else just the teeniest bit sick of hearing about all the foods we should not be eating?

There is a risk attached to just about every morsel these days and personally i have got to the stage where articles like this make me want to scream! For goodness sake, it is only a matter of time before going to bed causes type 2, getting up causes types 2 and worst of all - going to work causes type 2
I think the best thing to do is - have a bacon sarnie! (wholemeal bread of course, lean bacon, grilled not fried, low fat spread and low sugar brown sauce...)

Diabetes UK's official response to the story is:

?Based on analysis of previous studies, this research simply suggests eating a daily portion of red meat may increase someone's risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. The suggested increased risk is small so people should not be afraid of eating red meat as part of a healthy balanced diet. The paper does not support some of the more fanciful claims about eating specific types of meat such as sausages and bacon.

?Small portions of lean red meat play a crucial part in making up a balanced diet. The best way to reduce your risk of Type 2 diabetes is to keep to a healthy weight, take daily physical activity, vary your diet as much as possible to combine all the key food groups, particularly fruit and vegetables, and keep sugar, salt, and processed food intake to a minimum.?
Dr Iain Frame, Director of Research at Diabetes UK

There's a better analysis of the the research here:

I love reading all of these things because I know for a fact that I can't get diabetes from them:D

Is anyone else hungry for a bacon buttie???? As detailed above, yum, but I have mine without spread at all.

Oh yes! I'd have a little spread and the broon sauce and a bit of grilled tomato too.

Mmm, me too - perhaps I'll plan that for this weekend 🙂

If I give up the bacon can I reverse my Diabetes🙄

I want one now with brown sauce on an oven bottom muffin !!! mmm mmm mmm and to add to the pleasure think it would be finished of nicely with a sausage and egg on top 😛

Whow, i'm going to chose to interpret that as i can eat as many bacon butties as i like coz after all, it's a bit late not to get diabetes....

Frankly i think that eating increases your risk of all sorts of , kind of how breathing significantly raises your chances of dying of something...
