Head aches - tiredness

Are head aches/ tiredness a facet of diabetes? / some sort of warning? Reaction to medication?

I never used to suffer regular head aches, now I seem to get head aches most weeks ? some times lasting several days. Which do not seem to react to pain killers, the practice diabetic nurse has suggested that it is all down to stress ? blood pressure. the dr gave me some pain killers to use at night,
tiredness I seem to get tired when I have always been able to get up and go, now some days I struggle,

Hi Andrew,

You don't mention what medication you are on so it would be hard to eliminate that to start. I doubt I would be on similar meds to you but there are plenty of people on here who can help who maybe on the same!

You also haven't mentioned how long you have had diabetes, is it new for you or have you settled and had it for a while? In my early days, tiredness was a major symptom. Also when my blood glucose were running high, it would make me sooooooo tired!!

If you are newy diagnosed, I'd imagine this headaches could(as I am not medically trained to offer advice) be your eyes adjusting to the newly controlled glucose levels.

...It could also simply be the weather, hot weather and humidity causes pressure headaches for me! ....but the good weather is always worth it!!:D

Hi Andrew do you test your levels sometimes headaches can be a sign your levels are running high?Im not quite sure if you even have a meter

Hi Andrew

I suffered with bad headaches a few weeks ago, almost everyday for 2 weeks. Levels and eyes were okay so had no idea, took myself to the Doctors and they said it was an inflamed sinus.

Hope you're feeling better soon!

I sufferred quite a lot of headaches for about the first 6 weeks after diagnosis as my levels reduced and my body got use to the lower levels 🙂

There are quite a few causes of headaches. These days I get them if I am stressed or over tierd.

It may pay you to get your eyes tested if you haven't already done so as sometimes it is eye strain. Also see the dentists. Sometimes problems with teeth can cause headaches.

I appreciate all these checks are a bit belt and braces, but worth it to be headache free.

If the headaches persist and you have elimnated all other causes, go back and see your doctor.
