Hi all,
My annual review at the diabetic clinic is next Friday. I had my blood taken with the nurse at my GP's surgery yesterday.
The nurse was in a foul mood and was pretty damn rough. She scratched me on the way out with needle. Was not impressed!
Anyway, I texted my DSN to ask if she could let me know my result when she got it.
The past couple of months have been pretty good with regards to control. Last time I plugged in my Carelink my average BG was 7.2 and standard deviation 2 - the best I've ever had. I was pretty hopeful of getting a good A1c result. However, my menstrual cycle this month has been crazy and so BG has been fairly all over the place. I've also had a couple of nights recently with BG over 20 for quite some time - pizza and alcohol were to blame. I was so mad at myself for spoiling it. So by the time I had my blood taken yesterday, I had come to dread the result. I warned my DSN when I texted her that I was expecting it to be c**p. I certainly didn't expect it to be any better than last time.
Previous A1c in January was 7.6%, up from 7.4% the previous year.
DSN got the results yesterday afternoon.
Drumroll please.........
7.0%
This is the lowest A1c I can remember. My clinic's target for all patients is 7% as they are very anti-hypo.
I am over the moon and so relieved!
Having lunch with a friend today. I think burger & chips are in order to celebrate
