I was using google to search the message boards, and came across a large number of pages like this:

(Page removed)

Full of spam adverts - this implies to me the site has been hacked and a whole lot of spam injected.

No Ergates, but we do have several spammers registering every day. With the best will in the world (and believe me we do try) we can't keep on top of them all. We do delete them as soon as we find them though. Thanks for the link, we'll get rif of this one asap.

Thanks for the heads-up. Maybe our valiant Northie should take a look...

Spammers are now humans rather than a small program wonder around the interenet.. There groups of people mainly in 3rd world countries paid to spam, it's there income and living sad really..

This is what makes it so difficult to keep them off the forums.. As even with filters and codes on registration they will get past..

So moderators keep their eye's peeled for any spam post, and sometimes even managed to pick them up as they join, because their usernames is screams spammer, and check of the profile backs this up..

But we can make life a lot easier for moderators/Admin by using the report button on the post when we see a spam post..

As moderators once a spamer has posted a post, can only do something if they see it or if it's reported!

Thanks Ergates. We do try to keep on top of the spam posts. Other forum users like you are also helpful in reporting things we may have missed, so please do keep reporting anything you think is amiss and we will investigate.

I have used other forums that are not so well moderated, if atall, and all the advertising and junk impedes the free flow of conversation.

Thanks Ergates, I have asked DUK (who host the site) to investigate. Stupid spammers are a pain in the neck! 😡

LOL, no, these weren't forum posts or registrations AFAIK. It looks like someone found a vulnerability in the main website CMS and posted them there.

They should have been removed now - thanks for pointing it out 🙂

I'm now going to show my complete ignorance 😱, but I have worked out LOL and AFAIK, but can you tell me what "CMS" means here? 🙄

CMS = Content management system.

I suspect many people didn't know what it meant.
