Got results today, the receptionist at the surgery says all is well........

The numbers she gave me were:

16pmol/L and 2.63miu/L

Could anyone explain these...........thanks...........:D

Can't explain the numbers, but this is a little push as someone is sure to be along soon who can.

The two tests carried out are usually TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) and Free T4. TSH is elevated in hypo and decreased in hyper can't remember the reference range off the top of my head think it is between 2 to 4 so at 2.63 you are bang in the middle.

Free T4 I think should be in the range 12 to 25 (again don't quote me on that) so 16 is almost in the middle as well 🙂.

I should have paid attention in my Clinical Biochemistry lectures more 😉...

LOL, just the information I needed, thanks Carol...............:D

I'm really pleased that you got good results

Good news and good results have to admit when i got my thyroid results back i was in utter confusion lol

Hi, your results are good. Can I ask, are these tests part of your overall diabetes care or did you ask to have them ?

Reason I ask is that there is a high incidence of thyroid problems over the generations on my side, I was recently diagnosed as underactive with a reading of 61 (and gosh I felt it!), was told is should be between 0.2 and 4, now in the 20's so getting there. Also know diabetics have a pre disposition to this also so just wondering about future tests for my dd.
