When i was 17 🙄 in 1987 i did acually collapse and have a fit in superdrug in Bexleyheath , an ambulance was called straight away and i was taken to hospital , because i suffer with hypo unawareness i would have never have had the chance to get a sweet drink , just as well it doesnt look like i would have got it , i wouldnt mind but ar the time i was with a group from work ,how embarassing 😱

What a horrible thing to happen. :(

Quite right Northe.

Yes, he should have had hypo treatment on him - has anyone considered that he may have already used that hypo treatment?

When I had a seizure in Sainsbury's, I had hypo treatment on me, and had eaten an entire tube of glucotabs before having the seizure. Sometimes even when you're prepared something happens that means you need extra help.

That's very true. I've had one where I had just gone out to the shops and I felt a bad hypo coming on. I had some jelly babies, but got through them all and still felt very bad - I was totally disoriented as soon as I tried to move and had a major road to cross to get home. Luckily, I recovered after a few minutes, although it felt like forever, but can imagine how sometimes you might not be prepared enough.

Ange! Another supermarket hypo to add to the list - there's definitely something about those places! 😱

Hi Shiv,

What a heartless thing to do. As for not having hypo treatment with him - I think people will and do forget to take it all the time - we are only human after all, and, like you said, he could have used up his stock previously.:(🙂Bev

i think its rather petty to cause so much stress over some lucozade! surely if you drank it in the shop it wouldnt even count as stealing as the bottle wouldn't leave the shop?! changing the subject a little, my OH is a manager and first aider in tesco and has had to look after hypoing people before, he lets them have lucozade free, since i found this out i have hoped to hypo in tesco to get some free lucozade but i have not managed yet!! oh well.

I remember hypo'ing at the gym once (yes I did once belong to a gym!!) and when I told the guys behind the counter (having used up all my hypo treatment!) they gave me Lucozade. They also gave me some when I came to the gym without any once, not sure how I managed it but there we go.
