Just ordering some strips and lancets online from a pharmacy site, if I understand correctly I can get them vat free as I have a chronic illness and are using them for personal use... Checked with the vat office website and it defines a chronic condition 'such as diabetes' , so am signing the vat refund form and posting it off tomorrow, am I correct?

Lilies.

Yes, if you are diabetic you can get any items relating to diabetes VAT free, including glucotabs, kit bags etc.

I get my supplies of glucotabs from Medical Shop see link below. They often have special offers.

Lilies what meter have you got and strips?

I bought the aviva nano as it's so small so is handbag sized also really like the fastclix lancet system v easy to use and no rafting loading needles or disposing of them. Got strips at around ?8 off rrp and will get back 20% vat on top so not too bad a price worked out roughly ?15 for 50 and around ?11 after vat back for loads of lancets

I've got a nano - make sure you register it and you will get free batteries and testing diaries, plus replacements if faulty (I've had to return one as they can display an error indicating a battery needs replacing when it doesn't!). With the lancets - I'm still only about halfway through my first box after 3 years!
