Tsk! The Cure has been with us for 135 years!

From this fascinating blog about a company back in the days where they claimed their quack remedies could cure anything!

Yes, I was just wondering that as well. I was reading the article to see if it tells what was actually in it, but no. lol god knows, probably something disgusting.

According to the linked page, this "cure" was claimed to be for both diabetes mellitus (which is what we on this forum all suffer) and diabetes insipidus (a kidney problem apparently). Both are called "diabetes" ("flow") because they have excessive urination as a symptom, but AFAIK have little or nothing else in common; the second part of the name refers to whether the urine contains glucose ("mellitus") or not ("insipidus").

Given that DM and DI are two different illnesses, and DM itself is probably at least four different illnesses (1, 1.5, 2 and gestational), it's a wonder anyone fell for this "cure".

Probably essence of radium, mercury and strychnine. I suspect that'd 'cure' anything.

Andy 🙂

will it cure my gallstones too?????

I'd love to know what went into it, it can't possibly have worked!

got to remember though that there have been folk remedies for diabetes for thousands of years and Metformin comes from one of those - French Lilac.

But its a good job its a "Safe" Diabetic Cure, I wouldn't fancy buying an unsafe one.

And bear in mind, in a couple of hundred years time, they might roll around on the floor laughing at our current diabetic remedies.
