DVT and me...!

For a few weeks i've had a sore leg, lots of pains, feeling heavy, etc. today i decided to go to the Doctors and was told that 1. i had probably had a Thrombosis and 2. my ankle hurt because of arthritis.

I was never told i had arthritis so that was a shock, but also DVT was a hell of a shock. He gave me an injection of blood thinners this afternoon and i have to go to the hospital tomorrow.

My leg still hurts but it feels a lot better already. The joys of diabetes huh!
 
Goodness me Simon, you have certainly been in the wars! Is it the same leg as the one with the foot/ankle problems? Glad to hear that the treatment is working, I hope things go well at the hospital for you 🙂

What's your Cholesterol Simon ?
Raised Chols are associated with DVT and thromboses.
Once a problem starts in a vein the chols start collecting at it.
 
Northerner - yeah same leg - the doc said it was a "At risk leg" so that just made me feel 100% better /sarcasm :D

mcdonagh47 - the DBN told me last time it was slightly up but nothing to worry about 🙂 i'm going for another blood test in a few weeks so will get it checked again :D
 
Hope everything goes well simon , i had a dvt 11 years ago and had to take warfarin for 3 months and have weekly blood tests , dont know if treatment has changed now , legs been fine but as you say any pain or tiredness i get is always in that left leg .
 
I hate to be a nag Simon, but you really should be pestering your doctor as soon as you feel these pains, not waiting a few weeks! I know how reluctant you have been in the past, but it really is important that you get things checked out at the earliest opportunity as the sooner you can get treatment for something, the better. I hope that they can get things sorted so you don't have this worry hanging round you. I was put on a drug called clopidogrel to stop my blood clotting, which I had to take for a year after diagnosis.
 
I hope you are contiuing to feel an improvement. I agree it is important to start pestering the doctor as soon as symptoms start.
 
Hi Simon you must be in complete shock at getting these two diagnoses at the same time. I hope that they both get sorted out so that you have medication which stops you having further problems
