Hi all,

I just thought I would tell you about my toe infection it started about november 2008 at first it was just like an ingrown toe nail on right foot but then my left foot began to get sore after the podiarty tidy it up by packing the toes he did the right one first as he said this was worse , I nearely fainted my blood sugar wa s low and I was sweaty weak as water , he was scared and asked if I was ok , I said you should have freezed it first, he said right I will do the other one now I said no thanks and got up . took a glusgose sweet and was right as rain again. that night the pain in my toe was awful by the next morning I was not able to put any pressure on my right foot at all the calf of my leg was rock hard , so my wife phoned a taxi and A&e i WENTafter some tests they said the podiarty had packed it so much that the blood was not getting to my toe and that he should not have touched it as the left one was worse.

so came home with anti-btoics they did not work . finaly after much bandageing a new anti - biotics was found and they cleared it up for me . my toe nail is of , I got a steriod injection into my hip that sent my sugars high , they never told me it would do that .

the weather here in Northern Ireland is windy but dry or now, hope it stays like that as I am going out on my mobility scooter.

Eeeeww sounds painful and gross! 😱 I always make a point of telling people I'm diabetic if they don't ask, when receiving medical advice or treatment. Hope the toe is OK now and you enjoyed your trip out.

Beatiful sunny day yesterday in East Anglia, altho' the breeze was a bit chill. Bit more overcast today.

:D hi Runner,
The toe is fine now , I went out yesterday and it was lovely , I love going along the footpath with the radio on ( on my mobile) it is raining today :(

Glad to hear your toe infection cleared up. Do you still see podiatory for your feet? That my worst fear about having diabetes getting foot ulcers

Hi sofaraway,

as it was hard for me to get down to the podiarty, I asked if it would be ok to do the bandageing at home, and as it is clear now I told them i would keep a watch on my toes and come down the moment they get sore .

They said it would be ok but let them know anything conerning my toes . at the moment they are keeping ok ( fingers crossed they stay that way) she asked if I can get my wife to cut the nails , dont know what I am going to do she has Fibromaglia the pains in her hands are awful. the podiarty wont call out as they said they only call out to the ederly.hey said you can get down ok . my gp asked them to call out and cut them but they over ran that decision.

Yes, its good to get out now and again, I think it lifts the spirits. Turned out a beautiful afternoon and evening yesterday, until it started raining, and hasn't stopped since! Great for the garden tho'!
