Relationship to Diabetes

I developed hayfever last year (at the grand old age of 39 😱) and now it is back big time! I took anti-histamines that the pharmasist gave me but finished them all and cant remember what ones they were.

Do any of you have a type that you recommend? Looking at internet there are plenty of different types out there and I dont know which ones to try :confused:.

My inclintion would be to go back and ask the pharmacist. They will then let you have something that wont interfere with your other medications.

In the mean time I find it helps to keep my mouth moist and as I wear glasses anyway, it helps to protect my eyes a bit.
 
I have always used Boot's non-drowsy antihistamine tablets.
 
Why not get them prescribed?

Ooops - just seen you are D&E so assume you have to pay for scrips! Sorry.
 
I'd go back to pharmacy - even if pharmacist hasn't got a record of selling you a non-precription medication (I'm makign an assumption here), they may be able to recommend the same again, given your history, about which they should ask, or even if you don't ask, you might recognise the packet.
 
Thanks everyone, went back to the same pharmacy and the pharmacist gave me the one that she recommends (boots own brand non-drowsy) and also eye drops as my eyes were streaming 🙂

Glad you got something. If I get something that works I keep an empty box or wrapper in the medicine cabinet so I know what to get for next time.

I first got hay fever when I was 4, everyone over the years told me that I would grow out of it by 21.. I am 47 now and still waiting to grow out of it lol I used to use Piriton for years, then Triludan came out and I was on them for a number of years and by then you could buy certirizene and loratidine over the counter and I would buy them, but after a few years they never lasted the 12 hours or so stated on the packet. I now take Fexofenadine all year round and get it on prescription. I was going to try that actimist eye spray but it was about ?11 or ?12..
 
Dr Rosemary Leonard was on BBC Breakfast this morning and they were talking about Hayfever. She said the best thing you could use was a nasal spray which you use even on cloudy days.

There are some antidepressants that you are not meant to take antihistamines with - so its always wise to ask.
 
Cetirizine seems to be the popular antihistamine of choice at the moment, it's the non-drowsy one.
