hi i am a new to this site ... and would like to know what a 1.5 diabetic is please .. i am type 2 thanks

Hi nannyb and warmest welcomes to the forum.
A 1.5 is somewhere between a 1 (real) and 2 (pretend).
I also like living dangerously and enjoy winding people up. :D

Plenty of fellow 1.5's on this site - no doubt a more serious answer is on its way.

😱 Ignore the wind up merchant!

1.5 or Late Onset Diabetes in Adulthood (LADA) is basically slow onset Type 1 in which the pancreas gives up the ghost more slowly that in classic Type 1. We're often initially diagnosed as Type 2 because we can present with similar symptoms and histories. The main differnce as far as I can see is how fast the condition builds up, Type 2 is often ongoing for years before diagnosis whereas 1.5s seem to get ill much faster. Looking back I started to get ill about a year before I was diagnosed, but only got really sick about a week before I was carted off to the hostilepile.

Welcome to the forum nannyb! 🙂

If you're new to diabetes too, (or even if you're not, I suppose!), have a look at the following link for starters .....

p.s. chrismbee, I'm giving my blunderbuss mkII a shine in preparation for the next time you transgress! 😉

See, it works😛

Humour is the best coping mechanism by far - and T2's are the easist prey:D

As we say in Scotland, "Hmmph"! And who are you calling a Type 2? I'm a rusty Russian car.
