Thanks Once Agian For Your Help Hope You All Have A Good Day John D.🙂

John, any infection can affect your blood sugars. If you have a cold or flu, your numbers could well rise, give it a day or two and see what happens as you recover. You could check with the doctor though, if you're really worried.

Hi John.

Many things affect your BG levels. Exercise burns up glucose, so this will obviously lower it.

If you have had the flu (or a cold) your BG levels will undoubtedly have gone up, possibly into double figures while you are fighting the virus. If they are coming down to the 6s and 7s, it may be that there are other reasons for the highs you are having. The fact that it dropped after special K, which would normally cause a real spike in BG, implies that you may have a fair bit of insulin bringing your levels down.

As said, you would be best to consult your doctor about it all.

HI ROBERT I SENT A REPLY TO YOU BUT FOR SOME REASON THE COMPUTOR TIMED ME OUT. THANKS FOR REPLYING I JUST DONT UNDERSTAND THE LOGIC OF WHEN I EAT SOMETHING THE G.I LEVEL GOES DOWN BUT WHEN I FEEL HUNGRY THE G.I LEVEL SEEMS TO BE HIGHER? IT MIGHT BE TO DO WITH THE FLU, I DONT REALLY NO BUT I WILL JUST HAVE TO WAIT TILL THE FLU GOES AND THEN START CHECKING IT PROPERELY THEN, THANKS ONCE AGAIN MATE FOR REPLYING HAVE A GOOD DAY JOHN D.

Diabetes is a very complex condition and often plays by its own rules! Some people when ill find their levels go up, others find the opposite, so this might be what is happening in your case. There's also a possibility that because your body has probably been used to putting out a lot of insulin in an effort to keep your levels in range prior to diagnosis, this mechanism is not as finely tuned as it might be in a non-diabetic person. As a result, your pancreas may be over-compensating when you eat and your levels actually come down.

When you are fully recovered, you will be able to gain a better picture of what is happening - hope you are feeling better soon! 🙂
