As I live on my own this is ideal for me plus nothing beats it when you get that nice yummy smell filling the house.
Anyone got any recipes/ideas they wood like to share. Bear in mind if for more than it has to be freezable

The approach to cooking, followed by my partner and I, is:
(a) buy meat when it's reduced, and either cook immediately or freeze, then cook later, which means the prepared meal can't be frozen
(b) cheaper cuts of meat are best for slow cooking, so good value even if not reduced price
(c) same approach to reduced veggies, herbs etc
(d) we use whatever veggies are in glut in the garden - potatoes, parsnips, dried beans (dried so they'll last through through the winter)
(e) some fruits can also be good eg windfall or reduced price apples with pork (don't have to be cooking apples; can cook with eating apples, which are more versatile, particularly for a single person household); dried apricots with lamb etc
(f) rice, pearl barley and red lentils are all cheap, filling and tasty, especially suitable in slow cooked meals
(g) tinned red kidney beans are easier and safer than dried red kidney beans, which take ages to soak, then boil, not really practical for one person
(h) for several months each northern winter, I am effectively a single human household, so cat sometimes gets scraps / fat from meat; also, invite friends round, as it's more fun than eating alone.

So, recipes aren't really needed, just use whatever you like.
 
Do NOT use dried kidney beans in a slow cooker they don't get hot enough to kill the Poison

It is possible to boil RKBs for the appropriate length of time, then place in a slowcooker, but, as I pointed out, that's a hassle for 1 person.
 
How about this

Chorizo sausage
Savoy cabbage -shredded
Potato(if like)
chick peas
onion
mushroom
tin tomatoes

and thicken with a little tomato puree just before serving

Now this does smell delicious.

No prob copepod i had seen you written boil, i was just emphasising the point following spending a night at A&E as a student, with a flat mate who made kidney bean stew with dry kidney beans and kept tasting the beans !!😱
 
theres some great ideas here guys thanks. I to use the knock down stuff in my pot in fact im so good at it that i know when my local co op and Iceland knock down there prices on fresh meet etc theres nothing like the thrill of getting a barqin.
quick question can you freeze cooked rice?
PS guess who has rice, tin of toms,onion and sage sausages, sweetcorn in a homemade pasta sause cooking away in her pot, the smell is devine

rice can be frozen but must be done quickly after it cools or it can also grow a dodgy fungus that can make you ill 😱 Always best to cook from scratch ..

1 part rice to 1 and 3/4 parts water and a pinch of salt (optional)put on tight fitting lid and bring to boil stir throughly..put lid back then turn right down to simmer and its ready when all the water has disappeared x
