Heya everyone. Well as you have guessed im new to this site. I am 19 years old and have a beautiful 15 month old girl.
My lil girl is type 1 diabetic and was diagonosed in April of this year. Came as a big shock.
She has coped brillantly with it and is doing well. I have to inject her 5 times a day its awful.
Currenetly she is on a trial for a pump and is wearing it with water in for the time being.
Her sugars are all over the place and i am finding it hard as no one seems to understand what i have to do everyday.
Well anyways thanks for reading and sorry for such a long post xx

Hi Kayla,
I'm sorry to hear about your daughter but your in the right place for help and advice. =)
xx

hi welcome to the forum 🙂

Welcome to the forum - but sorry you have had to join us.

There are a number of parents on here, who I am sure will be in touch soon. Feel free to have a good moan/ask any questions you want.

Rachel

Hi Kayla, welcome to the forum 🙂 What a lot for you to cope with, with your little one at such a young age. We have quite a few parents here with very young children, some of them pumping, so hopefully we will be able to help you out with any questions you may have - or if you just want to let off steam, go right ahead 🙂

Welcome - any length of post is fine!

hi kayla - i just came over from facebook too. my 'newbie' post even longer than yours (i tend to go on a bit, 😱 )

take care x

Welcome - any length of post is fine!

Actually, I'd say it was one of the shorter ones! :D

Anyway, welcome to the forum, Kayla. I hope that you find us informative and friendly (not necessarily in that order)!

Andy 🙂

Hi Kayla, am sure you will find plenty of help and support for you and your lil one on here, 🙂 good luck and take care, shirl x

Hi Kayla, welcome to the forum.

Hi Kayla
Sorry to hear about your daughter's diagnosis but so pleased to hear you seem to be with a good team who are recognising how hard it is to look after a baby with type 1. My youngest son was diagnosed at 18 months so I can fully sympathise with you on the swinging levels; it is amazing how different one day acan be from the next with a baby, be it teeth coming through, or rain instead of sun, or deciding to toddle about all day instead of sleeping etc etc etc.
I have two sons with diabetes, my eldest being diagnosed aged 8, five years after his little brother, and can safely say that having a pump for them both changed our whole families life so much for the better. I wish I could go back and have a pump for my littlest when he was diagnosed. To be able to give tiny boluses and turn off the insulin when they are refusing to eat etc etc. I am so pleased you are getting access to this technology now.
It doesn't take away the diabetes, it just gives you a tool that fits and lets you do your very best to give them a happy and healthy life.
Might I recommend the Childen with Diabetes uk support group, where there are several parents with little babies using pumps and other regimes. It is a busy site but one full of advice and support at any time of the day direct to hundreds of parents.
Again I am sorry you have to be here but would be happy to offer any help I can.
