Apidra cartridge shortage

I’m not sure if we actually have anyone using apidra in cartridges other than me but in case we do… has anyone else had issues getting any?

It’s two weeks since my pharmacy had my prescription and still they haven’t been able to get any. They said supplier is still out of stock and no timeframe on availability. If I want some apidra then advised to switch to disposable pens. Obviously lose the half unit option then which is annoying.

Can’t find anything online about any shortage though and it’s not on the diabetes uk shortages list.

Have you rang round other local pharmacies to see if another chemist can source it for you. Sometimes independent pharmacies can shop around various suppliers whereas some of the franchises are contractually tied into one supplier and if that supplier is out of stock then they don't have any other option but to wait for it to come into stock.

It’s an independent that I use that couldn’t get any from the suppliers

Also, apidra isn’t on formulary in my area, it’s specifically not allowed except for existing patients using it, so it’s not something many pharmacies have really here.
