Excellent service from my GP

Yesterday, I contacted my GP re some unexpired insulin pens. And I got a call from the GP making an appointment with my DN. She rang later, sorted out prescription, and I had a text from my chemist 5 minutes later saying it was ready! Today I sent a message to the GP at about 8.30. By 10, I had had a call back giving me face to face appointment at 11.10. Running on time, out by 11.16, prescription sent to chemist, just had to wait 5 minutes and I had it. My elderly mother has so much trouble even getting through to her GP, let alone getting treatment (in Kent), and I know this is not unusual. But kudos to my GP for excellent service

I consider myself fairly lucky with my GP. I can always get a same day face to face appointment, as long as I'm in the telephone queue early enough. They always contact me for my diabetes review and results - I never have to chase. My only little niggle is they have outsourced all phlebotomy services to Barnsley Town Centre so what was a 2 minute drive to the practice for bloods is now a 90 minute round trip.

My mum's GP (in Sheffield) on the other hand is a nightmare of epic proportions!! You can never get through to speak to anyone and when you do, they never seem to take any notes or make changes and you have to repeat yourself a number of times. They have an online form, which they just generally ignore :(

Definitely feedback to the surgery as they don’t get much praise

I got a lot of appreciation from the people at my GP practice from a nice Google review I posted.
