T1DRA study

A couple of months ago I saw a post on facebook inviting adults to see if they had the antibodies which can lead to T1D. I messaged them and they sent me a pack to collect a small blood sample which I sent off for testing.
The study is intended to gauge how many adults might be at risk of T1D and hopefully spot immune changes before symptoms occur. Anyone testing positive for immune markers would be offered further testing.

I was already 99% sure that I had plain old T2 with beta cell decline (some of you may remember that I paid for a private C-peptide test and it came back low, but not super low).
I got the results today and apparently I don't have any of the T1 immune markers, so T2 it is.

I thought it might be useful for anyone who is in doubt whether they might be late onset T1 or not.

Well, don’t want to throw a spanner in the works but…

I did one through this scheme too. Diagnosed T2 at the time. It was negative.

My antibody test through the hospital was mildly positive though and now rediagnosed as T1

Also, you were only diagnosed 2 years after me, so similar time frame since diagnosis for antibodies to have vanished in…

Starting of insulin very different timings though if I was 1-2 years and you were 15 years.

@silver minion might be interested. I would be in her shoes.
I have already sent off for a test kit. Interested to see what the results are but also think the wider testing may help with future diagnosis for anyone with diabetes.

I guess maybe the hospital tests are more extensive. Also, you were considerably younger than me at diagnosis, in your twenties I think?
