Hi everyone I went to my first diabetes check up this morning it was OK asked a lot of questions which I didn't expect blood pressure check but they didn't advise on any healthy eating so I will have to Google and see what's out there

Pleased that everything was OK but no surprise that you got nothing about diet. That's something we hear a lot. Google often comes back with contradictory information about diet, so bear that in mind.

Hi @Duyen welcome to the forum, hopefully with the wide array of knowledge and experience that the people on here have, you may be able to Google less and get good advice, suggestions and information that will help you address you with regards to your Diabetes.
In terms of diet, lots of people on here have moved to a low carb diet, this may not be necessary for you dependent on your HbA1c but, for example, my original HbA1c was 86 and is now down to 46 some 9 months later based on my exercise and low carb diet. When considering diet remember that the issue is carbohydrates as a whole and not just sugar. Reducing your consumption of potatoes, pasta, bread and rice will likely have a positive effect.
If you want guidance on your diet then the Freshwell Low Carb Project provides lots of information as well as recipes for low carb meals and snacks. Other useful sources for food ideas are the keto recipe sites that abound on the internet. You may need to discuss with your medical team if there are any considerations if you are on medication.
Feel free to ask any questions you may have, there is no such thing as a stupid question and someone will always be along to provide an answer.
Everyone's journey is different and that is also true of what work for you from a diet perspective. If you don't already do you may want to consider a blood glucose monitor using test strips and a lancet to finger prick to check your blood, before you eat and two hours after a meal, that will help you see what foods are good or bad from a blood glucose perspective.
Finally, read through some of the posts and the LearningZone is also a great place for information.

The Freshwell link is very good but how much work you will need to do will depend on what your HbA1C is, which I hope you were told. I assume it is not too high as you don't mention any meds.

An HbA1C of 48mmol/mol is just on the diagnostic threshold so you are in a good position to get it back to normal of below 42mmol/mol with some dietary changes, reducing the carbohydrates in your diet will be a priority.

Hi Duyen, Diabetes UK doesn't use an app? You'd log in via your browser on the phone (Safari, Google Chrome or whichever other is used by your device) and tick the box for the system to 'remember you', so you wouldn't have to keep logging in every time you open it. Or does it look differently when you try to log in on your phone?

There isn’t a diabetes uk app so I suspect you have an app for a different website, or you’ve got the volunteering app? What does the app logo look like?

the app looks the same what's on here
What do you mean? There is no app, this is a website. Do you mean the volunteering app?

There is a mobile app. It's just the website. When you visit the website on a phone there's an option to install it as an app (an icon). Has no extra functionality (and every now and again you have to log in again as usual), but if you visit the website often it's a convenience.

That’s a link to the website on your home page not an app

Good morning all yes your all right I've checked it out and it's not a app as I first thought so I do apologise im ok just getting used to being told im type 2 diabetic and going on a low carb diet sounds good to me

Yes. I think this website describes it as an app. (As you say, it's just the same as the "Add this page to the homescreen" option of Chrome, for example.)

It’s the forum software. I find that term a bit frustrating really, and it has confused many new members! I wonder if I can find the place what that terminology is listed and change it?

Diabetes UK has an overview of a low carb meal plan here which may help @Duyen

The Freshwell NHS project is often recommended by members here too.
