Libre 2 fails to auto update app and losing alarms

Hi,
It’s been a while since my last post but I could do with a little help on two topics (in 2 separate posts).

My libre2 sensors have been partially failing to auto update my phone app for the last 3 sensors which is inconvenient as I naturally lose the alarm functions and less so I have to remember to scan it manually.

The previous two sensors worked fine for a few days and then decided to stop updating but then after a few days of this malfunction they come back to life.

The current one worked longer before stopping and just this morning I heard an alarm as it started working again.

No change in iPhone iOS, no change in Libre2 software, everything is upto date software wise.

Manual scanning works so close Bluetooth or manual push of the data is fine but the auto polling of data from the sensor is not which is what I can’t figure out at the moment.

Anyway it’s getting annoying and wondered if I’m alone with this, unlikely but possible.

I called Abbott the 1st time and the fault finding was useless and just the basics which is all I can expect so I haven’t called up again as I can get by like this. But worry if this affects a large number of my sensors.

I do have the new iphone16 so I did wonder about new Bluetooth standards but the on off on shouldn’t happen if the phone is consistent.
I’ve tried the reset of phone, app etc…

Interested in anyone’s experience with this pls.

Thanks,

I appreciate this is a long shot but have you connected your phone to anything new via Bluetooth?
I only ask because there is a limit to how many Bluetooth devices a phone can be connected to. My logic is that you connect initially because the sensor is the nearest paired Bluetooth device and then you move away from your phone and something else grabs that "last" Bluetooth connection and holds on to it.
Probably a long shot but just a thought.

(I assume you have tried the standard turn it off and on again for your phone and, separately, the Bluetooth on your phone.)

Hi,
That’s a good thought, I don’t think I have actually added anything new but the phone should technically connect up to 7 devices but perhaps realistically 3-4.
I have my iWatch connected but not all time when I had issues. I have this issue wherever I am (bedroom, office, garden etc…) so I doubt it’s that. However, if it happens again I will double check and debug.

I’ve done the airplane mode to reenable all the wireless services, resets etc…

What do you mean by the app fails to auto update? Libre app hasn’t had an update in many months, Abbott don’t do updates really. Last one was more than 6 months ago.

If you don’t mean the app version isn’t updating and you mean the sensor conmectivity instead, clear out any unneeded Bluetooth items, restart phone, keep phone on same side as sensor, and failing that delete and reinstall the app. Fixes any Bluetooth issues for me but be aware you’ll need to sign into same account to use the same sensor.

Also to be extra sure. You are leaving the app open in the background right and never closing it? Have checked all app settings through the app itself and through your phone settings?

Hi thanks for the response.

(Issue is that BG from the sensor is not auto updating the app on my phone, the readings do not update - I have to manually scan the sensor).

I think the biggest take away from the problem I see is that for what seems like no reason it suddenly stops (stays stopped) and then at some point decides to work again (and then stays working obviously in many different environments).
It sounds like a connection issue but shouldn’t be, there’s no need to keep phone on same side of sensor - I’ve had it working when the phone is say 5m away when in a workout class.

(Yeah I keep the app open, settings are checked etc…)

I’ve deleted the app and reloaded it and it still didn’t pickup my sensor, this was during a debug session with Abbott.

It’s tricky and I hope it doesn’t continue.
