Prescription delays?

Is anyone else experiencing delays with diabetic supplies coming through? My latest few prescriptions have all taken longer than usual for the pharmacy to come up with the goods. Latest instance relates to vials of NovoRapid and Libre 2+.

I have to give my practice pharmacy 5 days notice when I order and the only time I can remember them not being able to fill the prescription was when they couldn't get Fiasp cartridges but they supplied me with disposable Fiasp pens instead.

I think independent pharmacies can shop around pharmaceutical suppliers to source items if their regular supplier doesn't have them but the franchise pharmacies like Lloyds are I believe tied into a contract with their depot and therefore don't have that option to shop around other suppliers if their depot has mismanaged stocks or had an issue with storage or whatever.

People have been complaining about not being able to get certain items on their prescription much more frequently in recent years, but I think a lot of it is the way the pharmacies are tied in to particular suppliers.

My Fiasp insulin was delayed by over 2 weeks recently but the NovoRapid was available in the usual time (2 to 3 days).
My pharmacy will give me partial prescriptions but some wait until they have everything before issuing.
Are you using the single use NovoRapid pens or the cartridges?
There was an issue with single use pens. Not sure if this has been resolved

I am on Novorapid and so far the vials have been available as needed. I tend to order a good two weeks before I will be needing the replacement vials and have enough in hand to allow for any delays.

No, I give the same 1 week notice as always

I had trouble getting Novorapid vials from my usual pharmacy this week for the first time. Someone from the pharmacy department at the surgery kindly rang round some other pharmacies for me and I picked up the vials from Boots today.

Usually a week between authorisation by the GP and collection. That is only for metformin, sitagliptin, simvastatin and calcium tablets. Sometimes it can be 6 working days not 5.

I picked up my prescription yesterday, I’d ordered two days early as I’m off on holiday this weekend. Only half of my Creon, available that’s fine I’ve enough for going on with. But no Libre sensors! I put my last one on on Monday! They said hopefully by tomorrow, fingers crossed!

Many years ago I worked in a pharmacy, you could ask for the doctor to give you your prescription then take it to a chemist and ask if they have it in stock. The problem with having it sent directly to a pharmacy is it can sit in a queue and no one might look at it till you arrive and then discover there is no stock.

Got my Libre sensors and the other half of my Creon today. Phew!
