Easter Egg

I do this too. I put the egg in the fridge so it snaps nicely. I also ration the contents so it all lasts as long as possible. No egg this year as the only dark chocolate ones were absolutely massive. Opted for a bar of nice chocolate and bought hubby a pack of mini eggs and some malteser bunnies. Still hidden in the bottom of the spare wardrobe until tomorrow morning.

As I have Type 1 managed with insulin, I eat Easter Eggs as I did before diabetes. I just take insulin.

This year, we decided not to bother with chocolate eggs as we still have a lot of chocolate left from Christmas.
But I felt we were missing out on Easter foods so bakes some Simnel cupcakes. Nothing low carb just a nice light fruit cake mix with a marzipan layer in the middle and on top.

My sister and I exchange eggs. We both liked the Ferrero Rocher which has a chocolate egg made with hazelnut chocolate. I have been diagnosed diabetic since last Easter. I was going to do without but my sister said I should choose one. She has a Tesco delivery. I picked Lindt 70% chocolate with far fewer carbs than the Ferrero. When I went round on Wednesday she gave me the egg plus two bags of mini eggs. I ate one bag of the eggs that evening despite them being very sweet. I havent had any since. I might put the second bag in a food bank.
The fridge seems a good idea for the egg.

As a child I ate my eggs quickly - they were smaller than today. My sister took weeks and my brother usually had some chocolate left for his June birthday!

I buy a medium-sized egg before Easter and keep it. During the Easter hols, I eat half of it and try and keep the other half for the next day. Tbh sometimes I am able to do this, but other years I fail miserably. Not keen on hot cross buns, so that is one thing less to think about and manage.

I realise now, that Easter is much harder to deal with, all that chocolate. It's everywhere.

last year I made my own hot cross buns which were not great , so this year I got some proper ones and have had one toasted with lashings of butter on for my breakfast over the Easter weekend. I also have a shop bought Simnel cake .

I love them but I asked the teenager to pick some up from the shop and she got chocolate not normal ones and I must say I don’t rate them.
Had one for breakfast and a creme egg

In many ways, our household likes to experiment with food.
However, when it comes to hot cross buns, we are traditional all the way. No chocolate. No apples. No lemon curd. No cheese. Just dried grapes (sultanas and/or raisins), peel and spices.

Actually, we kind of break with tradition if I bake my own as I cba with the crosses. So they are hot buns. Except, sometimes we have them cold. So they are buns. But I only bake them at Easter and they contain dried fruit, peel and spices so there is some tradition.

I am not diabetic but was pre-diabetic, normal, pre-diabetic now normal again. As I was told my original problem was not weight related but rather possible age related insulin resistance I decided to have any really high carb and sugary foods in moderation most of the time, with some cheating. I do exactly what you have done - I divide things up. Had a slab of cake from a friend of mine on her birthday and ate it over about 4-5 days and really enjoyed it.

I have some little mini Easter eggs which are very nice and should not cause too many problems if I have one at a time over a few days or a week or so.

Got back from Asda before where they are selling off large easter eggs for £1.74

Got to admit I like chocolate, milk white high cocoa it doesn't matter which.
Yes, I ventured to Tesco and they had a good sale.

I got us all a few bits, as I found the prices before Easter extreme. I've only had 2 creme eggs this year. And my daughters easter present
I got a lindt egg with tiramisu truffles, very nice. Annoyed the nutritional information for the truffles provided per 100g and I had to get up from the sofa and weight one. About 5g each, so these are perfect for a little treat, and as I was up and the scales out I gave myself 100g of the egg too as I couldn't be bothered with more math's

I don’t often bother, but I did have one this year with some funds my father-in-law sent.

Is it me… or does Easter egg chocolate taste better?! Probably the extra surface area of the thin-ness?? Or something.

I finished my Easter egg last night and enjoyed it. It is not one I would have bought prediabetes. My favourite used to be fererero rocher which has nuts in the chocolate. The egg I chose was a Lindt 70% chocolate. The chocolate was not bitter. Inside were some mint chocolates. If I weren't diabetic I would be tempted to see if it was in a sale. I know my sister got it in Tesco. I didn't buy my sister the Frerero one so as not to be tempted. I got her an M and S one which she enjoyed. She doesn't like dark chocolate. It was milk chocolate with biscuit. As it didn't have anything inside i found a small pack of pistachios in chocolate, pistachios being her favourite nut.

It most certainly does tastes better. I have discussed this very serious topic with a number of people. Theories vary, ranging from the density of chocolate to the smell which one individual believes is much stronger and therefore more enticing. Take your pick.
