Gatwick scanner scan experience

Recently travelled through Gatwick. Apparantly all the scanners are now Full Body Scan ones. I wear a CGM and spoke to the security guy about it before going through the scanner. He went over and spoke tho the lady who was manning the scanner - she apparantly made some adjustments on her computer and asked me to go through.

Once the body scan was over, a security guy came over and gave me a through scan with his hand held scanner. He also assured me that my CGM was not damaged by the two scans. Sure enough, my CGM was fime and no issues at all.

Now I know that when I travel through Gatwick, I will make sure they are aware and can adjust their scanner accordingly.

The staff concerned were very polite and helpful.

I just went through Gatwick with the new style scanners last week, I didn’t mention my Libre, and just went through (I’ve been through the old style full body scanner before and it’s been fine), my Libre carried on working as normal.

My experience in multiple airports is the same as @Robin
I only tell anyone about my personal medical history if I absolutely have to.
Airport security do not need to know my medical condition because Libre are not affected by x-rays.

But for folks using other tech, some of the full body scanners use different electromagnetic frequencies, and many device manufacturers say not to go through a full body scanner (presumably because they can’t commit to checking all devices all over the world present and future?)

I just walk through with my libre on and say nothing

That's good that Libre is unaffected, but most pump manufacturers say that you should NOT take them through scanners and I wouldn’t want to risk it when my life depended on it! You can take spare Libres in case of failure but a whole spare pump is a different matter (and having the palaver of getting the main one replaced)

That latter is the same as even normal Xrays and all/any other scanning equipment within the NHS.
