12 Week Scan

Congratulations on lovely scan and great to hear that you are doing so well with diabetes management. Well done!

Beautiful photo and great news about both you and baby

Actually 13 weeks!
Baby looking very healthy. It was being very active, kicking its legs and waving!
My consultant was very happy with my diabetes control which was hugely reassuring.View attachment 34731

I'm feeling ok thanks. Definitely got a bit of a bump now! Not sure I had such a bump at 14 weeks with my first! All going well except some stubborn evening highs for the last two days, but I expect the HCL will catch up with correcting those in the next day or so and I've changed cannula site to my arms which I'm hoping will be better absorbent.
Sleeping has become a little uncomfortable as I get random deep aches in my outer thighs. I had this with my first too but not sure what can be done! Otherwise feeling good, no sickness thank goodness!

With my first I barely looked pregnant at 6 months. By about 6 weeks with my second I had a noticeable bump

If you have a tens machine you could try that on your legs as that’s noninvasive.

Congratulations @Lauren! What a lovely picture! And glad you’re getting on well! I’ve got those stubborn evening highs too, very annoying! I think our due dates are very close together, mines 6 October.

I’ll also second the long pillow idea! I still had mine from my first pregnancy and I’ve started using it this week, it makes all the difference!

Thanks @Evergreen! I'll look into getting one, I know I'll need one later on anyway and I expect it will make a huge difference.

Oh wow, my due date is October 5th so we will be super close from the sounds of it!

How are you getting on apart from stubborn highs?

Oh wow! That’s very close!

I’m getting on ok! Think the pump is working well, but finding it hard to predict my blood sugars at times. Not sure if that’s insulin sensitivity/resistance or if it’s the pump still learning my patterns.

Overall I can’t complain though! Bump is starting to come too, which is nice. I do notice I’m starting to feel a bit anxious about what’s to come with insulin resistance and possible complications etc

Bless you, I feel you. My ratio went from 1u:10g to 1u:5g around week 6 and now resistance is creeping in I am wondering how extreme it's going to get. Re: complications I completely understand the worry. We can only do the best we can though, and these HCL pumps are brilliant, pregnancy control is so much more attainable than it was even ten years ago.

Forgive me for forgetting, is this your second baby as well?

Ah yeah I’ve also been wondering the same. Strengthened my ratios around the same time as you and have kind of stayed the same since then. Just random lows when I don’t expect it which then make me question the ratios. Luckily they haven’t happened too much!

This is my second baby yes! But I wasn’t diabetic when I had my first (diagnosed with gestational diabetes at 35 weeks), so it’s a totally different experience for me.
