Do you mean platelets @sandy669 ? I think they’re to do with blood clotting. Why are you worried about your liver and kidneys? Did they mention issues with them?

This is some info on platelets, it may help you formulate some questions https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/red-blood-count/
Serum creatinine is a marker for kidney issues
Serum ALT level is a marker indicating liver damage
Were those markers ok for you?
It is always a good idea to discuss your results with your doctor, so please do discuss your low blood count - peace of mind is a good thing.

1 year ago my red blood count was flagged as high .. then totally ignored and not followed up (there was already a lot to be followed up).

They may want to do blood tests for vitamin B12 and folate as if those are low that can affect the platelets. Metformin can cause low B12.
Hopefully whatever they find will be easily treatable.

I am already have a B12 deficiency think the metformin might have lowered it even more. Just got told abnormal blood results to make another appointment with DN.

Are you having B12 injections as if it is caused by the metformin then it means you are not able to absorb B12 from foods or oral B12.
