Type 2 pre diabetes level 47

Hi @Hendrix, as @Leadinglights has said, making some small changes to your existing diet may be more helpful. Perhaps making sure that the sausages are mainly meat (I use Heck sausages as they are 90 something percent meat. Also make sure the bacon is a)not smoked, and b) use an air fryer to cook it. In terms of crisps and white bread, maybe consider replacing ordinary crisps with something like a lentil one or a vegetable crisp and also perhaps reduce the portion size. Hopefully this will allow you to make some change to the diet without actually causing issues with your other food related conditions.

The above may have some impact by reducing even slightly the level of carbs you are consuming.
Hi thanks for your ideas I've decided to cut bread out completely and will check those sausages out and cut back on the crisps and just lower all other portions for now and see how it goes

Hello @ Hendrix.
I was thinking that you might be able to go on eating the same things but make the proportions different - more protein and fat, fewer carbs - if you are eating thick sliced bread swap to medium or thin, add more bacon, another sausage, fewer chips.
Check on the carb content of the sausages - some are really quite high in carbs, so finding some with fewer carbs, more meat could really make a difference over the weeks.
Hi thank you for the reply I've decided to cut bread out of my diet completely and reduce portion size of other stuff. But as strange as it might sound I can't chew /eat sausages or bacon on there own with out having chips/waffles/Croquettes in my mouth at the same time I end up gagging and being sick and believe me I've tried many times lol its just part and parcel of this blooming ARFID eating disorder sounds strange I know but it still baffles me even after 34 years of being like it lol

Hi @Hendrix my question would be does it have to be bread or would a bread substitute work? I used to love bread, it was almost as good as eating cake but due to my diagnosis I have stopped. However, there is an app called Freshwells which has a recipe for something called fat head dough buns. I now use these as a bread substitute for grain based flour breads and really enjoy them. They are made using almond flour, mozzarella cheese, bit of soft cheese a couple of other ingredients. You can also search for similar recipes on the internet.

The buns are low carb, much lower than white or even wholemeal bread. If you can tolerate something different to white bread then they may be of help.

I know texture can be really important when it comes to acceptance - I used to work for Lyons Tetley and then Allied Lyons in R & D and storage testing. It is a whole science by itself.
Using thinner slices, or making a lower carb alternative might be all it takes to change things for you.
I made some lower carb bread which I thought was pretty good, but it takes longer to make as the dough is fragile. My bread maker was no use as although the first rise was good, the machine then beat all the puff out of it and I got bricks and door stops rather than loaves. If left to recover in its own time the result was good.
